California Bing cherries will go on sale two weeks earlier than usual around May 22.
Last year, UK sales hit a new high, rising 77% to 130,000 boxes containing 1,066 tonnes of fruit, said the California Cherry Advisory Board.
Seven UK multiples stocked the fruit last year to cater for rising demand fuelled by strong promotional support. In-store tastings, posters and recipe leaflets have developed customer interest.
CCAB manager Jim Culbertson said that late Spanish and Turkish cherry crops last year provided a large window of opportunity for the California cherry industry in the UK.
