Debut for SA trio South African citrus growers are marketing three late easy peelers this season for the first time. They have been developed through a joint venture between Capespan and Citroplant and fruit will be available in July/August. Cultivar development manager Steve Burdette said there was a real gap in southern hemisphere supplies before the start of Spanish satsumas. The varieties under test are Nadorcott (also known as Afrourer), a murcot type originating in Morocco; Mor, a mutation which has done well in Israel; and Or, a Temple/ Dancy hybrid, from the same source. Citrospan has set up a late mandarin growers' association to maximise the potential, while Capespan, because of its part-ownership, has the right of first refusal to export. {{FRESH PRODUCE }}
