The EC is funding a 1.5m study to assess the best form of EU support for farmers' co-operatives.
The study is to take stock of co-operatives' current development levels across the EU and identify specific measures that have helped promote them.
The EC put the study out to tender this week and hopes to award a contract by the end of 2010.
