Major egg supplier Noble Foods has developed an Omega-3-rich product that went on to supermarket shelves this week.

Noble said its Goldenlay product could provide one third of the RDA for long-chain Omega-3, and is marketing the new egg as the easiest way to consume the fatty acid.

The hens get specially formulated Omega-3 rich diet containing linseed and salmon oil. Goldenlay eggs are priced at about £1.80 for half a dozen.
