Sir; Your marketing page (August 30, p48) included an item headed Aloe vera for Onken which stated “it is believed to be the first time the plant extract…has been used in a UK food product…”

To put the record straight, Emmi, the largest dairy in Switzerland, has been marketing aloe vera sensitive yogurt and aloe vera sensitive yogurt drink in London for the last three months on test with selected retail outlets.

The concept was first shown in the UK at IFE in March this year with high interest from consumers, the trade and of course competitors. The test market has been a success, and Emmi with its marketing partner May & Raeburn now plans to launch across the UK with major media investment to stimulate consumer trial.
