US battery and torch maker Energizer has agreed to buy the Schick-Wilkinson Sword shaving business from Pfizer for $930m.

Schick-Wilkinson said it has an estimated 18% of the shaving market and sales last year totalled some $650m, mostly in Europe, the US and Japan.

Energizer CEO Pat Mulcahy said: “Energizer and Schick are very compatible, with many common customers, and similar distribution channels, high speed manufacturing and product innovation capabilities, and corporate cultures.”

Last month Pfizer sold its Adams sweets business to Cadbury Schweppes.
