The hunt for the best of Britain’s own-label food and drink is under way.

Own-label has never been more important to UK retailers as they look to differentiate themselves from rivals, making The Grocer’s 2013 Own Label Food and Drink Awards more relevant than ever. It is also the biggest own-label competition in the world, with some 750 products entering this year.

Interested? Suppliers and retailers have from today (18 August) until 26 October to submit their entries online at www.thegrocer.co.uk/ownlabelawards.

As with this year’s awards, products will go through a two-stage testing process in which they will be judged by consumers and a panel of industry experts who blind-taste all entries.

The winner will earn the right to use the Gold awards logo on their winning products and in stores. This year, that honour went to Tesco, which took 15 wins, followed by Asda and Aldi with seven, Morrisons with six, Sainsbury’s and Lidl with five, The Co-op Group with four and M&S with one.

Winners of the 2013 awards be announced next May. For more information, call Nabeela Akram on 01293 610439.
