A new online map showing how food and drink companies are battling major environmental issues in their supply chains is to be launched next month.

The Global Collaboration Map, designed by 2Degrees, will include 500 case studies of how suppliers including Unilever, Mondelez and Diageo are tackling issues such as palm oil and water shortages.

2Degrees MD Oliver Hurrey said the interactive map was also aimed at ramping up collaborative action between companies that have been hampered by lack of co-operation or fears over competition issues.

“There has been a huge potential for duplication of effort and with big issues such as water so high on the agenda, this map is aimed at bringing everything together.”

Retailers including Sainsbury’s and M&S have posted information about their activities on the site, also backed by NGOs including WWF and WaterAid.
