The European Commission has abandoned its efforts to force France to open its markets immediately to British beef. The Commission has decided not to ask the European Court to issue an interim ruling. Instead, it has accepted it will have to await the result of its legal challenge to the French action in the court. However, many experts believe it could take up to two years before a resolution is found in this way.
