Old-world wine suppliers are increasing the size of their trade stands at the London International Wine Fair (LIWF) this year to bolster their position against New World wines.

Despite having just been overtaken by South African wines in off-trade volume sales, French wine continues to lead the way as the largest overall exhibitor at LIWF. Increased regional participation from Spain puts the country in second place. Elsewhere, Italian wine distributor Grossi Wines will make its debut at the show.

New World specialist Pernod Ricard is upping its presence by 50% while South America, Argentina, Chile and Wines from Brazil are also back this year with bigger stands.

Exhibitors at LIWF, held at London's ExCel centre, will have more space this year due to a new extension to the arena, according to show organiser Brintex.
