Almost 400 products have been shortlisted in The Grocer’s biggest-ever Own-Label Food & Drink Awards.
A record 1,100 products were entered into the awards by supermarkets, discounters, symbol groups and wholesalers, and these have been whittled down to 393 finalists across 69 categories.
The discounters lead the pack, with Lidl having 97 shortlisted entries and Aldi 77. They are followed by Asda (68), Tesco (54), The Co-op Group (36) and Morrisons (27). Other businesses in the running for awards are Booker, Budgen, Costcutter, Iceland, M&S, Nisa, Sainsbury’s, Spar, Today’s and Waitrose.
The finalists were selected through consumer testing conducted by Cambridge Market Research, and will now be judged by our expert panels. First introduced for last year’s awards, a new Innovation rating will enable our experts to upweight scores for products they believe are not only well executed but genuinely innovative.
Winners will be announced by actress, writer and comedian Lucy Porter at the London Hilton, Park Lane, on Friday 8 May.
