A former employee of Farmers' City Market, based in London's Hampton Hill, is planning to open a rival business in nearby Twickenham.

Jon Wainwright, who runs The Meat, Cheese & Drinks Company from a stall at Brent Cross shopping centre in north London, left FCM last year. He recently won £1,336 from the company for unpaid wages and is now planning to open an outlet with a similar format to FCM, offering cooked food from a rotisserie, a charcuterie and a delicatessen.

The company that owned FCM, Farmers Hypermarket, went into administration in February. Its assets were bought for £42,000 by Shopping Redefined.
