The Federation of Wholesale Distillers will launch its Wine Blueprint merchandising guide in February. A meeting of wholesalers and branded wine suppliers ironed out the final details this week. It will follow the same principles as the Blueprint for beers and ciders launched by the FWD seven years ago. Director general Alan Toft said: "If the Wine Blueprint is half as successful it will revolutionise the wine offering in local shops. The clock is ticking. This is the last chance saloon for wine in local shops. "If independents do not reflect current consumer demand especially for New World brands, they can wave goodbye to the wine market." The new Blueprint will use media and direct mail to guide independents into product selection and shelf merchandising. It will be based on a planogram agreed this week. {{DRINKS }}
