Total Produce has promised further expansion on the back of strong sales and an aggressive expansion strategy in 2007.

The company, which claims to be Europe's largest fresh produce provider, said it planned to set up two distribution centres in India following its €83.9m spend on acquisitions last year.

Chairman Carl McCann described its pre-tax profit as "ahead of expectation" as he announced the company's preliminary results this week. Pre-tax profit rose 7.9% to €38.9m, while sales revenue including joint ventures grew 30.6% to €2.43bn.
