AgroFair optimistic over Oké expansion Talks are in progress with UK supermarkets to gauge reaction to widening the range of Fairtrade fruit marketed under the Oké label beyond bananas. About 3,000 cartons of bananas come to the UK weekly from Ecuador, Costa Rica and Ghana. The Co-operative Group has sold these since last year, and recently Asda completed a successful trial. AgroFair UK, which markets and distributes the fruit, has begun importing mangoes from Ecuador and Burkina Faso. It is now looking at the potential for Costa Rican pineapples. Plantations are being evaluated for certification, while research is taking place to determine the quality grading standards that UK multiples require. {{FRESH PRODUCE }}
