Bart Spices has unveiled the UK’s first range of Fairtrade herbs.

The range of organic herbs makes its debut in Tesco this week, with the first clutch of products comprising basil, marjoram, thyme and mint. Five more herbs will follow in November: parsley; sage; fennel seed; mace; and rosemary. All are grown in Egypt.

“This marks another first for Bart Spices as well as the herbs and spices category,” said Bart chief executive David Collard, who joined the company last month.

“This has only been possible because of our close working relationships with our growers and suppliers, both of which are paramount to our work ethic.”
