Cadbury Schweppes ceo John Sunderland has been elected president of the Food and Drink Federation. He begins his term of office on 1 January 2003.

Nectar cuts ads
The Nectar loyalty programme is to reduce TV and newspaper advertising in an effort to keep pace with unexpectedly high consumer demand.

National Consumer Council chairman Deirdre Hutton has called for one consistent organic certification mark to be set up. She said consumers are "deeply confused" by the 11 different marks currently in use.

language grant
Tesco is sponsoring the Welsh Language Board to the tune of £10,000. Workshops and seminars will help food producers promote and package products bilingually.
