This week's bacon markets are suffering from what traders refer to as Februaryitis, in other words, not a lot is going on.
Danish sellers continue to report the situation as quiet and predict little change until the middle of the month. Gammon prices have risen slightly, and one trader said there was a possibility of further price increases next week.
The Dutch have also experienced little change. Retail demand stays good while food- service continues to tick over.
However there has been more activity on the British side, where lack of demand has led to a surplus of product. This has caused a collapse in the price of legs as well as significant drops in loins and back bacon.
