Farmers For Action has demanded a 3ppl milk price rise from retailers, which “would not be shared with any other”.
Milk prices to farmers are on the slide after price cuts by Arla and then Robert Wiseman Dairies. The rise, FFA claimed, would be totally justified because demand for milk was outstripping supply.
FFA is also promising to take its action on to the European stage. Chairman David Handley said: “We have been talking to our counterparts in Europe over the issue of farmgate prices.
“The time has come for a unified voice, not only in the UK but also across Europe. Food is the most important part of every person’s life. FFA calls on every politician in the EU to make this number one on Europe’s agenda.”
