Refresco Gerber, the €2bn (£1.6bn) pan-European bottler of soft drinks and fruit juices is exploring the business’s capital structure to facilitate future growth.

The highly acquisitive enterprise is keen to focus on the next phase of expansion now that the integration of Refesco and Gerber Emig scheduled for completion before the end of next year.

Hans Roelofs, chief executive, said: “The merger has created a market-leading platform in Europe, and we are well positioned to capture private label and contract manufacturing opportunities in Europe and acquisitive growth in Europe and beyond.

“To optimally position the company to capture this growth potential, we are currently exploring all options to further enhance our capital structure.”

The business has grown from a small Dutch business in 1999 to become the giant it is today, bottling for retailers and branded customers.

It has achieved this through its “Buy & Build” strategy, which focuses on external growth via strategic acquisitions and organic growth.

Refresco Gerber has undertaken 12 acquisitions since the turn of the millennium, followed by the merger of Refresco and Gerber Emig, in November 2013.
