Young's owner Findus Group has started a 30-day consultation with around 30 staff ahead of moving its marketing and commercial arms to London.

The frozen specialist is to set up a commercial centre in the capital, leaving its manufacturing site in Grimsby as a technical and NPD hub. The restructure could cost up to 28 jobs.

"These are not proposals the company takes lightly," Findus said. "However, we believe taking these tough choices today will build an organisation that becomes fit for purpose to drive long-term future success."

The move will effectively involve the relocation of the group's marketing team to London. UK MD Leendert den Hollander told The Grocer it was part of his plan to turn Findus into the UK's biggest frozen brand within five years.

"The London site is our European headquarters and it makes sense to run all our marketing operations from this site," he said.
