Major seafood supplier Young's has had its ethical credentials underscored by the endorsement of its Fish for Life programme.

Independent consultancy Bodycote Lawlabs has validated the programme's methodology for assessing the sustainability of a fishery.

Fish for Life sets out policies on the sourcing of both wild and farmed fish. It incorporates a supplier audit that generates a risk assessment of each fishery, directing purchasing strategies and tackling areas of concern.

Young's deputy chief executive Mike Parker said: "Fish for Life has become a fundamental cornerstone of our business."
