Celebrity chef Rick Stein is today lending his weight to a campaign to get people eating fish.

Stein launched Seafood Week at Billingsgate Market, kicking off hundreds of events around the UK between now and next Friday,October 11.

Organised by the Sea Fish Industry Authority, the week brings together the entire seafood industry in a massive push to encourage consumers to try the 100 or so different varieties of seafood available.

Research unveiled at the launch shows consumers are unaware of the variety of seafish available. One in five people surveyed had never heard of eel or halibut and 50% had never eaten a pilchard or mussel
