The retail market for seafood continues to show strong year on year growth, both in volume and expenditure terms. Taylor Nelson Sofres Superpanel Data for the latest quarter ­ the 12 weeks to 4 March 2001 ­ highlights gains displayed by all sectors ­ wet/smoked, frozen, and defined chilled (seafood based ready-made meals). The wet/ smoked market in particular keeps strengthening its performance, with a year on year growth of 9% in expenditure and 3% in volume, suggesting that prices are still increasing. In the 12 weeks to March, the wet/smoked sector grew by 12% in spend and 7% in volume (compared to the same quarter a year ago). {{M/E MEAT }}
