The value of the Welsh fish industry has the potential to triple if fishermen take advantage of new local markets and work with the Cywain Fisheries scheme, the business development company behind the scheme has said.

The £8.4m Welsh fish sector could reach £25m if fishermen and fishmongers were helped to identify local sales opportunities that added higher value, Menter a Busnes said. More than 90% of Welsh fish was exported at the moment, but there were great growth opportunities for selling in Wales, it added.
