The Department of Health has produced a recipe guide providing simple, cheap recipe ideas and tips designed to help young people develop their cooking skills and eat more fruit and vegetables.
The free booklet, Fuel for Living, also contains information about healthy eating and special offers on joining gyms. Figures released by the DoH show one in 10 young people never cooks a proper meal because they “don’t want to” or “can’t be bothered”.
The survey was conducted as part of the government’s five-a-day programme. The recipe guide will be available free of charge from shopping centres and branches of One Stop and Costcutter.
