A TV ad proclaiming that Flora Buttery is more popular than Lurpak Lighter Spreadable has been banned by the ASA.

The Unilever ad claimed that, out of 200 people sampled, 48% preferred Flora and 45% Lurpak. However, the ASA agreed with claims by Lurpak

owner Arla and 29 viewers that the sample size was insufficient and that the result was not convincingly in favour of Flora.

"We felt the statistics were misleading and we are satisfied with the ASA ruling," said a Lurpak spokesman.
