Coldwater prawn prices have been increasing due to low seasonal production in Canada. In August, Russia announced a ban on prawn imports from Iceland until August 2016. Greenland is now the only major coldwater prawn producer who can sell to Russia but its stocks are currently low, due to high exports to China.

Higher catches of haddock have kept prices lower year on year, but prices are up over the past month due to Arctic Norwegian haddock and cod being re-labelled as environmentally sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council, increasing demand.

Skipjack tuna prices from Thailand continue to increase month on month due to the Fishing Aggregating Device ban ending on October 31. The EU is set to review Thailand’s efforts to address illegal fishing at the end of the month and will make a decision on whether to issue Thailand with a red card, preventing any trade, or to remove the current yellow card.
