Little Melton
Launched: February 2011
Last month New Zealand duo Mark Collins and Cara Cunningham launched Little Melton, a small-batch artisan yoghurt made from British milk, and local ingredients wherever possible. Available in six flavours, including passion fruit, strawberries & cream and blueberry, the yoghurts, which are being stocked by a number of independents as well as Harrods, are priced from £2.30.

Collins, UK CEO for Little Melton, believes there is huge potential for innovation at the gourmet end of the dairy category in the UK.

Moma
Launched: September 2010
Moma originally launched into 35 Sainsbury's in August 2010 with its range of oats and yoghurt pots, with an rsp starting at £2. This year, Moma is ramping up its activity in the multiples, launching into 19 Co-op stores last month and 27 Tesco stores this month. The company says it is enjoying a rate of sales of about 15 units per week, per line, per store.

Brown Cow Organics
Launched: November 2010
When Shepton Mallet-based Brown Cow Organics launched a Xmas Pudding yoghurt last year, it was on to a winner. A mixture of organic Xmas pudding purée and Brown Cow's own yoghurt, the range was stocked by independent stores across London and South West England. The seasonal yoghurt retails for 88p and tastes "like melted ice cream".

Twekkelo
Launched: february 2011
The 'yoghurt in a bucket' brand recently added rhubarb & raspberry to its existing apple & cinnamon, black cherry and forest fruit layered yoghurt varieties, with poached pear coming soon. The company secured listings with Tesco and the Co-op in the first quarter of 2011 and says provenance is key to the success of its products, which have an rsp of £1.65.
