A company that falsely claimed that a Vimto drink contained vitamin C was fined £20,000 yesterday.

Labels on Vimto Fruit Blast, sold by Nichols, stated that the drink contained 4.1mg of vitamin C per 100ml, but magistrates in court were told that no trace of the vitamin had been found after it had undergone tests.

Under the Food Safety Act 1990 the company, Nichols from Merseyside, was charged and the company was also ordered to pay over £3,400 in costs, according to media reports.
