The Moscow authorities have decided to relax the ban on imports of EU beef imposed when the FMD crisis started. Russia usually takes up to a third of EU beef exports, and the loss of this trade for a long period could have flooded the internal market, sending prices through the floor. Russian will now allow imports of beef and beef products from those countries among the E15 that have not encountered FMD in livestock. The bulk of EU exports to Russia come from Germany. Imports will not be accepted from Britain, France, the Netherlands or Ireland, which have all experienced FMD outbreaks. {{M/E MEAT }}
