Scottish Courage and Interbrew are breaking into the electrical retail market with the introduction of branded fridges. Foster's refrigerators are on sale in Currys stores nationwide, where they retail at £149. The fridges feature the brand's logo and the Chequered Flag, linking them to the brand's Grand Prix sponsorship. Interbrew was the first brewer to test the market for branded fridges when it sold them through Asda and First Quench at the end of last year. They featured Stella Artois imagery, retailed at £90 and sold out within 24 hours. As a result it is repeating the exercise and its mini chillers are going back into Asda this week with a view to selling them ahead of the May bank holiday. Scottish Courage marketing director Brian Sharp said: "This is ideal for the beer loving lad who objects to the lack of space in the household fridge for his beer. "This is the first time Currys has sold a branded drinks chiller and we are interested in establishing how well they meet the opportunity of a secondary sited domestic fridge." The fridge comes with a voucher for a free case of Foster's. {{DRINKS }}
