Foster's EMEA is planning a relaunch of its Californian Beringer brand this summer as part of an ongoing strategy to reduce reliance on Australian wine.

Scheduled for release this August, the brand will sport new packaging and new wines blended specifically to suit UK palates.

Initially a red, white and rosé will be launched, each selling for £6.99.

The company is also considering a Fairtrade wine for its Lindemans brand, which was extended out of Australia into Chile and South Africa last year.

"We have a joint venture with Origin Wine in South Africa to look at the possibility of doing a Fairtrade accredited wine under the Lindemans umbrella," Neil Barker, commercial director UK & Ireland said.

"It's a long-term project, as we don't want this to be just a marketing ploy. We're in it for the long-haul, so it's a case of watch this space in terms of launch dates."
