Percy Fox is bucking the growing trend for heavyweight marketing support for the emerging wine brands by publicly announcing it will not be backing its range this Christmas. This means no on-pack promotions or giveaways and no TV or press advertising. The only support for its Californian range Blossom Hill, which is one of the UK's top 10 wine brands, are some gift packs and a leaflet competition which concludes at the end of this month. There is no significant support running on the South African range Two Oceans or the champagne, Pommery. Marketing manager Mark Fells said: "Christmas is the key period for the wine trade, when consumers are fully focused on the category. They need little encouragement to buy, hence we are only doing very limited and targeted activity. We have looked hard at what we traditionally do at Christmas and come to the conclusion that little of it creates any real value for us or our customers." He said for Percy Fox Christmas was about added service. "For our major national customers Christmas is about getting the right stock to them at the right time. We will be supporting the brand in-store with festive pallet wraps for additional impact." {{DRINKS }}
