France's fightback in the UK wine market has been bolstered by support from the Wine and Spirit Association. French wines have been losing ground to New World suppliers, and have begun to respond with more concerted marketing initiatives. The latest of these has been co-ordinated by the French Wines Committee of the WSA. In response to calls for a more integrated approach to wine promotion it has brought together the major UK agents and importers of French wines for a trade tasting at Lord's Cricket Ground on March 12. Committee chairman Andrew Gordon said: "While the French trade body Sopexa has done a fantastic job for individual regions, we believe there is scope for a generic tasting encompassing all areas. The event will help to showcase the high quality of wines available from France in the £5-£10 category." {{DRINKS }}
