There were more clashes between French wine producers and police over the weekend as protestors demanded a meeting with pm Lionel Jospin. Winemakers say domestic overproduction, a cut in EU grants and New World imports have pushed prices to rock bottom, and called for the government to implement an aid package promised in September. Producer co-ops in the Herault region warned members would be lucky to make more than 1.52 euros a hectolitre for ordinary wines this year as opposed to last year's 2.44 euros. {{NEWS }}
