The Rugby Football Union has teamed up with egg supplier Stonegate Farmers to launch England Rugby-branded eggs.
Six-packs of free-range eggs went on sale through online retailer Ocado on 22 February, to mark England’s first 6 Nations home game. Further listings, with Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Morrisons and The Co-operative Group, are in the pipeline.
RFU licensing manager Jane Barron said the deal demonstrated the breadth of licensing opportunities available ahead of next year’s Rugby World Cup in the UK. “We are looking forward to working closely with Stonegate Farmers to ensure mutual benefit for both parties.”
Stonegate said it hoped the eggs – which will carry the Stonegate name alongside the England Rugby logo – would raise awareness of its brand and boost sales.
