A seafood-infused butter - pitched as “the future of surf ’n turf” - is set to hit UK retailers after proving a hit with chefs.
Iasc Irish shellfish Butter, developed by the Atlantic Seafood Company of Ireland, is made from mussels, Irish butter, crabmeat and seaweed. It is designed to enhance seafood and other recipes using “the magic of umami”, according to MD Colin Ross.
“It can enhance the flavouring of other non-seafood meals, including mashed potatoes, risottos and even steak.”
Ross said the product was already used by more than 300 foodservice outlets across the UK and Ireland. It is also listed in 30 Irish Musgrave outlets, where it retails for €2.50 for 75g.
