The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Eggs, Pigs and Poultry will meet with industry this month to complete its inquiry into key issues affecting the sectors.

Groups including the British Egg Industry Council, British Poultry Council, the National Pig Association and NFU will give oral evidence in three sessions this month focusing on planning, antibiotics and welfare.

The inquiry was launched in January to investigate what effect rules had on the sectors, and to ensure they remained competitive.

“All three industries face challenges including costs imposed by farm animal welfare, environmental and food safety regulations,” said group chairman Neil Parish MP.
