Tesco has doubled the number of stores selling Jimmy Doherty higher-welfare sausages and chicken kievs, in response to growing consumer demand.

The kievs are now stocked in 750 stores - up from 380 - while the sausages are on sale in 265 stores, up from 120. Sales of the sausages had struggled, but a spokeswoman said Tesco had made them more prominent and they were now selling 17 times as many as in their first week.
