Prunes are the first wrapped fruit to be launched in 125g bags, and Whitworths believes the concept will boost fruit’s appeal for snacking by making it easier to eat.
It intends to broaden the range to include some its other snacking fruit lines, which includes apricots, figs and dates. “The individually wrapped concept has worked well for confectionery and it is set to be as popular with fruit snacks,” said marketing director David Smith.
