A host of food and drink startups have hit the crowdfunding trail to raise cash to fuel next-stage growth.
Mr Lee’s Noodles Company is seeking £375k on Seedrs in return for an 8.1% stake to boost distribution and invest in marketing. Entrepreneur Damien Lee has developed a six-strong range of gluten-free, low-sugar cup noodles, with no MSGs, hydrogenated fats, artificial additives, preservatives or colouring.
Mr Lee’s has already partnered with catering giant Compass Group.
Dressing and sauces brand Lucy’s Dressings, stocked in Selfridges, Whole Foods Market, Ocado and Waitrose, has hit its £150,000 target on Crowdcube to fund marketing and NPD. The business, founded by Lucy Mackenzie, previously raised £125,000 on Crowdcube in 2016.
Drinks business 808 Whisky, launched by music producers Tommy Danvers and Paul Pullinger, is overfunding after smashing its £300k target on Seedrs. It plans to take its blended-grain Scotch into new markets.
Also, kids ready meal maker Kiddyum, stocked in over 320 Sainsbury’s, is seeking £350,000 on Crowdcube to help become a leading name in the category.
