Green & Black's former marketing director, Mark Palmer, has been appointed to the newly-created role of global brand director.

Palmer left the company in 2006 to move into consultancy after managing the integration of the organic chocolate brand into Cadbury Schweppes. He took on a non-executive role at Green & Black's.

The new role, which follows a restructure at the firm, gives him responsibility for overseeing UK marketing. He will also be in charge of driving global expansion.

Palmer, who is now the company's most senior marketer, said UK promotional spend for 2008 would increase by 25% to £7m.
