Since then the company has been busy bedding in the two operations into a single business.
Kerry has disposed of two milk processing businesses, both part of Golden Vale, says director of corporate affairs Frank Hayes. "We sold Bailieboro in February to Lakeland Dairies and Artigarvan went to the Town of Monaghan Co-operative."
Hayes says there were few synergies between the two operations and the rest of Kerry Group.
The rest of Golden Vale's milk processing operations have now been integrated into Kerry and Hayes says they have achieved good synergies.
"The dairy markets have been tough but we've made steady progress and we're pleased with what we've achieved."
Not all of Golden Vale's operations involved dairy and Hayes says Kerry has been making enormous progress with the other business units.
And as far as the future goes, he says the company is still extremely acquisitive and has already bought 14 businesses so far this year. "We've made a number of strategic bolt-on acquisitions in both the US and Europe, and we're continuing to look for opportunities.
"As far as the dairy industry is concerned, however, our focus for now is to consolidate our operations following the Golden Vale acquisition, a process which is substantially complete, and once we've completed that integration, it will be business as usual."
