Ethically minded shoppers will soon be able to buy ‘pesticide residue-free’ bananas in addition to organic and Fairtrade options as fresh produce brand Good Natured expands into bananas.
The brand, owned by Angus Soft Fruits, specialises in fruit, veg and herbs that are guaranteed not to contain pesticide residues. Its new Ban-Tastic Bananas (rsp: £1.37 for a bag of five bananas) go on sale in Asda later this month.
The launch will be followed by a new pesticide-free branded onion called Outstanding Onions in November, which will also be sold in Asda.
Good Natured MD Lochy Porter said bananas were one of the nation’s favourite fruits, and onions had year-round appeal, making the two launches an important step towards Good Natured’s ambition of offering consumers “a wide choice of pesticide residue-free produce.”
