Leading chicken supplier Grampian Country Foods has launched a new form of packaging for poultry products the first in 25 years.
The company said its rigid plastic boxes would replace the foam tray packaging currently used throughout the sector, and eliminate the risk of leaks and spillages.
The plastic trays, which are easily stacked, are also covered with a printable new film.
Alison Cannon, marketing director for Grampian's chicken division, said: "We have asked shoppers exactly what they think about the chicken portion products they buy, and that led us to develop the new look.
"The designs have proved so successful that we are planning to introduce similar packaging for whole birds later in the year."
The new packaging range is set to begin appearing on shelves from spring 2003, added Cannon.
