Sir; I am delighted that Ian Hughes (Letters, December 9) felt compelled to put pen to paper and congratulate Tulip for its category management investment with Safeway. It's a shame he ruined it by having a dig at the concept, although I am rather confused as to why he then claimed he had carried out a similar project 12 months earlier. He's clearly suffering under the stress of working in the bacon industry so, to make him feel better, I have arranged for a bunch of grapes (not sour ones) to be sent to him forthwith.
