SABMiller has launched a new drinking awareness campaign urging parents to discuss the effects of alcohol with their children.

The brewer, whose brands include Grolsch and Peroni, is supporting its online Open the Facts campaign on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in the industry’s latest bid to address concerns about underage boozing.

“The message is getting out that parents have a lot more influence over underage drinking than they think,” said Kristin Wolfe, head of alcohol policy at SABMiller.

“The tough part for a parent, however, is knowing practically what to do.”
