Sainsbury has launched a competition to track down the country's top growers.
Launched at the Royal Show this week, the retailer's Grower of the Year awards is looking for leading suppliers in five main areas salads, vegetables, fruit, floral and organic.
Tony Sullivan, Sainsbury's produce general manager, said the suppliers would be judged on key criteria such as price, quality, availability, innovation and differentiation. "We're confident there will be many growers looking to take part it's an accolade they would like to win."
He said out of the five winners in each category, an overall grower of the year would be selected who would appear on instore merchandising.
