Innovative chef Heston Blumenthal, champion of such unusual delicacies as snail porridge and bacon and egg ice cream, has teamed up with luxury ice cream brand Häagen-Dazs to create daring new flavours.

The venture is in its early stages, so the company is also continuing its series of six-month limited editions with the launch of a mango and passionfruit flavour this month.

Linda Hipkiss, marketing director for brand owner General Mills UK, said the launch capitalised on the popularity of lighter, fruitier flavours and filled a gap in the market for exotic fruit based ice cream.

The full Häagen-Dazs portfolio is set to get a £5m support package this year.
